House arrest will not discourage Trump from continuing to commit crimes. The judge has to know this.

If it was me, I would tell Trump he is the most dangerous man in America, explaining exactly why that is, give him the maximum four years on each count (to run concurrently, so he would serve four years, max) and give him a date certain to surrender himself, in August. And I would say it was because Germany went easy on Hitler after the Bier Hall Putsch, and look what happened to them. If some appellate court wants to stay his sentence, let it be on them. But I’m not Judge Merchan.
