I don’t see much hope of the Church getting a clue. Churches in Europe sitting empty or being sold. In another 40 years or so the Catholic church will be like the old European aristocracy. Some of them keep their castles and have some money but they aren’t culturally of politically relevant.

I’d love to see the flow of money from North America to Rome cut off. Stop the wire transfers and use the money to pay for programs to help the victims. Abuse doesn’t just affect one victim either. Think about the children growing up with alcoholic parents because of what a priest did decades ago, etc.
