Yea…but seems like the markups are greater here. Ironically, they look like they’re the highest on the bullion coins struck by the US Mint.

You always pay a premium on bullion coins, because they go to a collector market. The markup is less on wafers and actual bullion, but it still exists.

My thought is that it would be nice to own enough gold in small pieces, that one would be able to live for a year on the proceeds of selling it, and it would be wealth that was sufficiently portable that you could stuff it in your pockets and bug out, if the world were falling in upon you.
