don’t deserve to be tax-free. I’d disagree with that, but I would say that churches should be a hell of a lot more apolitical than they have been over the past decade.

Problem with that is the very people that can determine whether or not they can remain tax free ARE politicians.
Lets say a pol was running on a platform TO tax church properties/ assets to help with the local tax base. Would you not expect the church itself to mount a counter-defense?
