In the physics dept where I am, there is a grim bet. It goes: will it be N. Korea vs. S. Korea, India vs. Pakistan or Iran v.s Israel in the next atomic exchange.

I would bet on the order, rather than the singular event. You just described the chain of events for WWIII.
I would bet
(a) India vs. Pakistan
(b) Iran vs. Israel
(c) N. Korea vs. S. Korea

… in that order, about two weeks apart.
