Why the rush to pretend like we weren’t in charge in Afghanistan. We made Karzai, but what good did it do?

It’s not considered appropriate for the US to occupy nations, anymore.

Note: we didn’t give Okinawa back to the Japanese until long after the Treaty of San Francisco. Okinawa was essentially a US military base until 1972, 27 years after the end of WWII.
