I’m not sure if it’s intentional or not, but to some extent that is the impact. She’s also opening up space on some issues. We’re now debating and discussing a 70% marginal tax rate. That leaves a fair amount of wiggle room to raise moderate proposals to only raise the rate to 50%.

One of the amazing things about this is not that most conservatives would lose their shit about a 50% marginal rate; it’s that the majority of them will never, ever, ever in the their lives come close to making the kind of money that would put them in that bracket. Yet that’s one of the hills they always want to die on.
