[Video]Higher mileage, better built and much safer. One of the greatest urban myths is that old cars were safer. Most of what you see in the old cars is just sheet metal with nothing behind it. When safety standards began to be adopted in the USA back in the 60s we heard similar complaints like we see now about CAFE standards.

You may walk away from the Malibu.
You ain’t getting out alive from the Bel Air.
