McCain’s ‘waterloo’ was not related to the military. His mistake was voting for the $700B financial bailout. Had he voted against it, and stuck with conservative principals, he stood a better chance to be elected.

You could be right, you never know. He could have got himself some seperation & looked principaled, but instead he suspended his campaign to rush back & support the bail out.
