Because I’m an American citizen. And if the military of any other nation besides Israel shot one of our citizens to death our government would at least ask some questions about the incident.

He attacked the Israeli soldiers, so they shot him. Since they had seen that some of their attackers were armored by that point, they shot him in the head. It’s entirely defensible.
