It’s not considered appropriate for the US to occupy nations, anymore.

Note: we didn’t give Okinawa back to the Japanese until long after the Treaty of San Francisco. Okinawa was essentially a US military base until 1972, 27 years after the end of WWII.

That’s stupid. I think its pretty much a moral obligation to a occupy a country. To avoid the whole civil war thing.
