But he knew about and respected the inherent dangers of nuclear power. Civilians on the other hand, not so much. Hence we have had 3 mile island, Chernobyl and Fukushima .

When I was on the Stennis, standing electrical watch, I had to coordinate with someone to bring a second generator online. Following the instructions, I look at the switch for changing the frequency on the active generator, looked down at the book, reached up, and opened the breaker.

Luckily we were in port so losing power to half the ship was OK.
