First I’ve heard of this conspiracy. Get your training from the Army? Really? Gang members think this deeply and want to leave their hoods and current income? Makes no sense, and I don’t believe it.

It’s not a new idea, bangers of various sorts have been trying it for decades — recruiters were able to prevent most of them for a long time (that was the original point of examining tattoos and juvie records when people tried to sign up).

But by 3 or 4 years into the Iraq war, recruiting was going so badly they lowered standards and gave out a lot more “morals waivers” than they used to.
