Perhaps not but it would also be very easy to argue that prison abuse is not a monopoly of private prisons. Let’s have a look at Rikers Island and Attica… or perhaps the numerous super-max facilities and the notorious state facilities in Florida.

Oh, I completely agree with that. Prisons are always going to face immense problems due to their very nature, public or private.

To be honest. I read that yesterday and didn’t see any proof or evidence that supports the claim of that title. It seems like it would be a logical conclusion but they didn’t provide any examples. They did note the lobbying but they didn’t show example of laws they support that would put more people in prisons.

Did the PA juvenile correctional kickbacks scandal involve a private contractor of such incarceration services? I can’t remember.
