And what is mostly needed is reform of spending. You reform spending, then you get cuts. If you cut without actually making provisions for what you’re cutting, all you’re doing is inviting long-term costs down the road.

Cut the food programs that the GOP wanted to cut? You get more homelessness, more petty crime, more kids unable to ever get a real education, dropping out of school. And that costs us money.

The point shouldn’t be ‘cutting’. It should be ‘spending less’.
