In 1980, I was working at a gas station and noticed the shift from 20s to 50s from people who would fill up a couple times a week to commute to LA. Now 100s are taking their place, making it easier for plastic to take over everywhere, because bills that big still make you old people nervous.

Or it would make it easier for plastic to take over if they didn’t charge a 5% penalty for it as opposed to cash, which ISTR became legal again around 2003 after being forbidden for most of the 90s?
