That’s for sure. I can agree with you on that. Clockwork Orange is probably the best example.

I think part of my problem with Eyes Wide Shut is that it seemed very….dated. I understand the central shock, husband discovering wife has desires he knows nothing about,— but the way it’s played out in the movie seems so old fashioned and odd.

It is based on a novel by some Viennese guy in the 30’s, IIRC, and I think that goes some way towards explaining how terribly un-shocking it is.
