Actually one of the nuke sites at least is in the frontiers. The Taliban are also marshalling a great deal of tribal nationalism to gain recruits, Pahktunkwa or whatever the Pashtun call it has been a dream of the more radical tribes like Baitullah Mehsud’s for a long time. In the end it’s all about temporal power for petty tribal warlords.

Perhaps you are right in principle, but it is hard to imagine those tribes really coming together in any way that involves serious “national” coordination and I suspect that everything that they could call infrastructure now comes from Islamabad.

On the other hand, that would make it easier to bomb the shit out of them.
