Oh, but let’s not fail to note Michelle Bernard’s point that there’s crazies “on the right and on the left.” This birther controversy is quite ridiculous, but it’s child’s play compared to some of the left-wing conspiracy theories I heard about when Bush was in office.

I can’t think of a single lefty conspiracy theory — and there were some — that even came close to being as widespread and widely believed as the Birther insanity.
