I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but I hope we redouble our war effort in Afghanistan if only to ensure that these resources get dealt with as they should. I always thought of the Afghan war as the good war contra Iraq. I’m not pleased with how it’s gone to be sure, but the Taliban needs to be eradicated. That shit needs to stop. And I don’t want them or the Chinese controlling key minerals. As much as I have my own Christian convictions regarding the nature of governments and empires, I’d much rather having us in charge than those asshats.
