The USA is more than a democracy. It has a constitution which would prevent imposition of Sharia law even if a majority of Americans voted for it.

The U.S. is of course not a Democracy. It is a Republic. This is one of the reason the we are “conservatives” while they are “progressives”. We want to defend the structure of our government from what we see as the mindless or feckless depredations of those who do not understand how to run a Republic, while they want to move toward what they see as a more utopian, less archaic model of government, run by people who know how to run *everything*.
