If his response was ‘spread the wealth around’, and then smiled and walked off, you’d have a point. But it wasn’t, so you don’t— I guess that’s what the sarc tags were for. “spread the wealth” was the meme picked up on by the media because it was a soundbite they could trivialize.

And yes, we do have to ‘spread the wealth around’. Or rather, when the wealth becomes more and more concentrated in a smaller and smaller segment of society, it is a gigantic problem for our nation. How to solve that is a highly debatable issue. That it’s a problem really isn’t, or, I’ve never seen anyone make any sort of coherent argument as to why it’s not a problem.
