Good interview, except the ‘I have Muslim friends’ line. I always cringe when someone uses that line or a variant of it.

It’s not that Charles used it but that so many people who are clearly bigots use it.

Well, Alan interrupted me, but I was going to expand on that. I have Muslim friends who I’ve known for years, some of whom I ride bicycles with, and we remained friends during and after the 9/11 attacks. It’s not something I would normally bring up, but when people accuse me of being “anti-Muslim” I think it’s relevant.
