They’re not as easy to use in real life as they are in video games I can tell you that much from personal experience. I haven’t fired much in my life but when I have, it’s been in a completely relaxed setting, and one where obviously someone couldn’t easily point a gun on me and shoot me. And I agree, another gun man could make things worse. I think people who bring up that hypothetical mean well enough but they’re ignoring the reality of a situation like that. That kind of situation could end up badly not just for the other unarmed people but also the shooter as well and then we’d have people upset that a potential hero was shot by police.

This always reminds me of the story from a guy who was at Gabby Gifford’s shooting. He was carrying a pistol, and when the shooting started, he decided against pulling it for that exact reason. How, in that situation, can anybody identify friend from foe? “People are dumb, panicky animals, and you know it.” And the gun-nuts want everybody to pack heat.

When the shooting starts, everybody would just whip our their gun and fire at the first thing they see with a gun. Hell, most would just start firing.
