“Vituperative” is a good word. Roget’s has “contumelious” as a synonym, which of course means “exhibiting contumely”. Contumely: 1. Rudeness or contempt arising from arrogance; insolence.
2. An insolent or arrogant remark or act.

That sounds more like Newt than Mitt, but not by much.
