When I got my female from a rescue they included pet insurance for a year. Personally in that type of scenario the insurance is a good idea. A few years ago we took in a doberman we knew we were going to have to shell out a lot of money for vet bills up front, without insurance, so it wasn’t a deciding factor in getting my female but the rescue told us it had really helped in getting more dogs placed. We let it lapse, my dogs are healthy and pet insurance makes as much sense as paying for phone insurance.
