What a lovely gift! I would imagine working with all those ties of whatever fiber would be difficult. Also ties are cut on the bias (45 to the direction of the threads) which makes them stretchy. You could cut pieces on the straight of grain, but then it wouldn’t look quite so much like the original tie.
