My middle sister went through a ‘Born Again’ phase, and tried to work on me when she was visiting, years ago. When she got home, she sent me some books with a note saying, “These might help answer some of the questions you have.”

Questions? I didn’t have any questions. I can’t will myself to believe something that makes no sense to me, and I can’t bring myself to believe that it matters.

That’s the thing, they don’t get that your truth—whatever that might be, including unbelief—doesn’t have to be the same as theirs in order for it to be just as real and true to you as theirs is to them.
