You need to understand that he doesn’t see abortion in terms of control. for him it is about “the right to life from conception until natural death”.

I respectfully ask how you answer that point when it is raised. I am not saying I hold that belief, but most of the pope’s defenders do.

The human being who carries the unborn life is a human being. The unborn life is a potential human being. The actual human is in control of her own body, and whatever she wants to do with the unborn life within her is her business. That’s my position.

The idea that some institution’s definition of the life within that woman causes the woman to lose the right to say what happens to her body is abhorrent to me. That idea has repercussions for that woman’s life that need to be thought about long and hard before going ahead with such an inherently fascist idea that she should lose her control. Most men have not done that long and hard thinking, and a lot of women also have not. Some have done that thinking and sided with the unborn life over the woman. I will always disagree with them.
