I’ve got this feeling things are going to go bad next year. I mentioned up above, the stock markets are slightly below where they started the year. The unemployment numbers haven’t changed, nor apparently have real wages for a year and a half (at least). Economic growth seems to be falling off. Inflation, though still historically low, is ticking up ever so slightly.

It’s the usual economic cycle with our political system: A Democrat got us on a steady if unexciting economic recovery, to which Republicans declared “That’s just not enough! We can do better!” and dumped rocket fuel (tax cuts & deregulation) on it. So the economic recovery was boosted for a shorter period, but the growth that was once sustainable is now overheating the economy. I would not be surprised if we’re in correction territory in the NYSE before New Years.

And by 2020, we’ll be told that Donny deserves a “second chance” to get the economy ticking at 4% annually like he promised, he just didn’t expect Democrats to so badly foul up the economy.
