Upding for the Battle of Leyte Gulf reference. I would reply however, that the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) did ultimately have a chance to do severe damage to the Leyte landing force, but failed to do so because Admiral Kurita lost his nerve.

I’m going to guess that most of the non-Tea Party GOP will also pull an Admiral Kurita and stop fighting against gay marriage soon enough.
