US 6 is weird in that it goes through Denver (albeit unsigned) and Cleveland but manages to avoid Chicago, New York and Boston. Until California consolidated US routes in 1964, it went south all the way to Long Beach.

The Long Beach Civic Center still has the plaque indicating the terminus of Route 6.
