The Shakespeare quote about starting with the lawyers is actually said by a criminal called “Dick the Butcher” who serves a pretender to the throne who wants to overthrow Henry V. Then they murder a clerk.

I think the legal profession in general is too in love with the law, and not enough in love with justice. But we are a nation of laws. It’s through the courts that most of the civil rights have moved forwards incrementally.

Laws, and lawyers, are the basis for civil society. Which makes the lawyers who abuse that position even more contemptible.
