Well, I can’t think of another way to call it. He openly and flagrantly ignored and trampled the 1st Amendment.

Wikipedia says the Nauvoo city council ordered the press destroyed. Could be seen as a property crime more than a violation of the first amendment.

But my point is, even Americans violate the Constitution. Doesn’t always make them “unAmerican”. If they say we should no longer operate under our Constitution, then it might. Dissent is very American. Actually, dissent is very human, and tolerated here more than a lot of places.
