If school voucher proponents wanted an uneducated public, then we wouldn’t have a problem with public schools being run for the convenience of their teacher’s union.

Vouchers are a response to the failures of public schools in many places, not an attempt to induce failure.

Failure is the key word. Conservatives don’t want failure, they want ignorance especially in science and history.
