Under great pressure from our Senate and Congress. And with a War to fight in Iraq, something had to give.

I don’t know if that is a good excuse. In fact I don’t know that anyone needs be accused in the sense that as a nation we hold such things as elections in high esteem. But that doesn’t change the fact that, IMHO, Pakistan is too primitive and fractured for true democracy and Musharraf is the type of leader that they need.

Our principles said no, so we help shoot ourselves in the foot.
