I was worried that Monday night’s frog noise might start to piss off the neighbors but it seems to have only made the frogs more popular, especially with the boys in the neighborhood . I was the guest of honor last night at the hippie neighbor’s new after dinner tradition called a frog party. They have desert on the porch and listen to the frogs until bedtime. This morning another little boy from down the road asked me (very politely) if I would give him one of the frogs as a pet.

I can’t believe anybody would be upset by the sounds of the frogs!

When I was growing up, we didn’t have AC, and so in the summer we had to sleep with the windows open and the attic fan going to bring in a breeze. When I think about my childhood, one of the things that stands out most in my memory is the sound of summertime - the cicadas at sunset, the frogs and crickets in the evening. I loved it! Still do, and I’ll go sit outside now on my porch after dark sometimes, just to hear those sounds.
