re: #268 Stoatly
Just about everywhere I’ve been in the world there’s a Turkish kebab place to be found, and usually a good good source of decent cheap food (and often beer too, outside dry countries, despite the حلالness of the meat)
Kebabs have got an image problem in the UK as the preferred food of the inebriated at pub-chucking-out time - but now I’m hungry for Lahmacun and a cold Efes
- which reminds me, we spotted a Turkish cafe not far from the house which I’d not known of before ‘cos it’s a route we don’t normally use - just checked TripAdvisor and it gets great reviews so a visit is in order…
Kebab is well-known in Germany and the Czech Republic as the chow-down of the hammered as well. The kebab shop in Stodoln Street here is perfectly located to draw all the terminally tipsy, and the shop owners were, no doubt, well aware of this fact when they opened up. On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, there’s a crowd in front of that shop that looks like people waiting to get into an Iron Maiden concert.
The two brothers who own it have to be making a fortune, LOL.
