We used to have this one channel called Selectv that was HBOs competitor. It came on after a broadcast channel in town went off the air at night. The scramble box had a key on it to turn it on. That’s when I saw The Shining. Good movie.

I saw that for the first time on commercial, network television, on what would eventually become the local Fox affiliate. It was 1980-81, I was nine or ten years old, and it was completely uncensored. Yes, even the old lady in the shower uncensored. That’s how network television used to roll in my hood. It was awesome.
