He did something stupid, no doubt. Does the deckhand on an aircraft carriers deserve what he gets if he fucks up and get sucks into an aircraft engine? Are you going to cheer when a humvee driver forgets his training and gets paralyzed by driving too close to an easily identified EID? How about a soldier how’s ordered to move and stays put? Does he deserve to be shot in the spine?
I’d guess that many, if not most, military casualties are caused by people who made poor choices, ignored orders or were careless or stupid. To Cheer on this young man’s death for fucking up is immoral. He may very well die a horrific death for his mistake. I have little doubt that the Taliban will show him those clips from Fox News labeling him as a traitor who deserves to die. They couldn’t break his morale any better than Fox News if they tried.
