Well, you’d think that birds and wildlife would understand not to fly into buildings, but they do - by the boatload. The Empire State Building turns off its main tower lights after midnight or so because migratory birds tend to get attracted to it and fly into the building - resulting in bird kill.

During spring and fall bird migration seasons and particularly on cloudy, humid and/or foggy nights, when large numbers of birds are seen flying near the building, the tower lights are turned off. Observatory personnel on the 86th floor outdoor deck notify the engineers. The birds are attracted by the lights and there is a danger they will fly into the building and be killed.

Rinse and repeat for the hundreds of skyscrapers that don’t turn off the lights, and you’ve got a far greater threat to birds.

Which is all the more reason to pursue nuclear technologies - less negative impact on the environment.
