Probably the gun check thing would be prudent. About the only thing that can be done short of bullet proof glass—and that would seem downright un-American to keep our politicians so isolated from the public.

Yeah to me the gun check things seems reasonable and theoretically doable, it probably wouldn’t be cheep and would require the creation of effectively a larger but slightly less elite version of the secret service to make sure that each congressman/senator has guards ready at all times.

Imagine how certain people would complain if the Democrats put froth the idea for the creation of such an organization at the moment….
