I’ve seen the fact that Phelps was a registered Democrat as justification for the assertion by some on the right that he’s a liberal. I’ve never seen such a bad argument. The guy clearly wants to return to a time period where people would be executed for being gay. Is he a mainstream conservative? Of course not but is he the very definition of far right wing in that he wants to go back to past policies of say the Middle Ages? Absolutely. THe Phelps freaks were actually here since they were pissed off that my college elected a drag queen as our homecoming queen. We also had a guy named Brother Micah here this past fall. Not sure if anyone of you all have heard of him but he basically goes around telling college kids they’re going to hell because some of us smoke pot, voted for Obama, have sex, and condone homosexuality. It’s fun times. I took some pictures of it and there was even a guy who had a sign that said I’m With Satan that stood next to Micah.
