I’m thinking more along the lines of the racism that wells up in books like “Lucifer’s Hammer”, where the brave, resourceful, and almost uniformly white farmers and ranchers defend themselves against the cannibalistic hordes of urban blacks.

To my shame, when I first read it I didn’t perceive just how deeply racist it was.

Pournelle pops up on This Week in Tech every so often. Until now, his most irritating trait was reminding everyone he predicted the iPad in one of his books (pro tip: you made shit up and got lucky).

This puts him in a whole new light.
