re: #315 Romantic Heretic

I read that wikipedia entry and thought about it. I’m going to do some research later.

Why? Because of this little aphorism from Bill Mauldin. “The surest way to become a pacifist is to join the infantry.”

All the soldiers I’ve known and the large majority of those I’ve read about that have been at the sharp end don’t want war. They know what it’s like. They know it’s a horror. They don’t want war.

Sen. Cotton acts more like a member of the 101st Chairborne than the 101st Airborne.

I think, on some level, that you also have people who return from the clusterfuck that is the middle east with the mindset of “Win? What win? We withdrew, gave up, threw in the towel. Look at it? We need to finish it and rid the world of all Muslims. Now.”

And that, IMHO, is Tom Cotton.

I didn’t see the film or read the book but wasn’t the American Sniper mindset that it was good to kill all those people? I thought that was what I heard. I think Cotton has that very mindset.
