I build Nuclear Subs at Mare Island for 20 years…I’ll tell you a story about the genius of engineers..One time we wanted to lay a 6” pipe all around the the inside of the outer Hull.. But because of the thickness of the pipe there was no mathematical way to bend the pipe to a 33’ radii.
You just can’t bend a 6 inch pipe within the outer hull..
I walked in and said just go to the centerline of the boat a weld a 6 foot straight piece of pipe and bend the pipe from there to the top and the other side to the bottom..The math works.. Engineers aren’t always very smart.
