We have a white Christmas going here in Lubbock, with about 3 inches on the ground and more falling.
Local wits predictably use this to ridicule the concept of global warming, having forgotten about the insanely unprecedented heat of last summer. They also fail to realize that recent winters have actually been a fair amount warmer than those in the past. Back in the 50s and 60s, it routinely got below zero here, with the record low of -16 being recorded in 1963.
It has not been below zero in Lubbock in 23 years now.
