Merry Christmas from LGF

You may think the War on Christmas is a Fox News fabrication, but I know better. The atheistic filth that is the librul, started all this evil propaganda by shortening it to "Xmas." THAT'S when you American history re-writers took the "Christ" out of Christmas. This country is doomed because of the cultural rot; the alcohol; the pornography. Only a blessing from He, the Saint Tebow and Roger Ailes can save this once great, Christian (read:white) nation. I will pray for your pagan souls.

We have a white Christmas going here in Lubbock, with about 3 inches on the ground and more falling.
Local wits predictably use this to ridicule the concept of global warming, having forgotten about the insanely unprecedented heat of last summer. They also fail to realize that recent winters have actually been a fair amount warmer than those in the past. Back in the 50s and 60s, it routinely got below zero here, with the record low of -16 being recorded in 1963.
It has not been below zero in Lubbock in 23 years now.

I really believe that in their basic form, all wingnut politics are about keeping blacks in their wingnut designated place, with possibly a little animosity left over for Mexicans and Muslims. In the wingnut subconscious, the latter are simply variations of black. Wingnut antisemitism, where it exists, is also related to this, since manipulative Jewish puppet-masters are required to explain how supposedly inferior races can be a threat or even become dominant.

Endless War!
And from Lew Rockewell:
This is the real reason the collectivist Left hates religion: Churches as institutions compete with the state for the people's allegiance, and many devout people put their faith in God before their faith in the state. Knowing this, the secularists wage an ongoing war against religion, chipping away bit by bit at our nation's Christian heritage. Christmas itself may soon be a casualty of that war. -- Ron Paul

But quite frankly I think it's sort of irrelevant, that because we don't know the exact details and we don't have geologic support for evolutionary forms, it is a theory, even though it's a pretty logical theory. But my concept of understanding of a creator is not related one bit to whether or not I or anybody has to believe in evolution or not believe in evolution." -- Ron Paul

The idea that the social do-gooder can legislate a system which forces industry to pay men and women by comparable worth standards boggles the mind...The concept of equal pay for equal work is...an impossible task.... Then I'm against the conspiracy, but Hollywood is unlikely to make that movie. It's hard to imagine a "corporate" conspiracy to do that ("war profiteers" don't want wars with a potential to go nuclear, since that sort of war would end up costing them business) and movie where the Iranians were the villain would be seen by too many on the left as "jingoism".

Well, I somehow doubt that would be a global position over there, because hate is all-pervasive; I have a feeling the main reason why someone would get the boot over there for anti-Latino crap is because ol' Rodan is Latino (of Cuban or Puerto Rican descent, IIRC). I'd love to be wrong...

Fars News Agency plans to hold an international cartoon festival on the Occupy Wall Street movement in a bid to help people in the United States take their message out to the world.
Despite the attempts made by the US media and statesmen to portray it as an unimportant development, the Anti-Capitalism Occupy Wall Street Movement has gradually grown so wide that it cannot be harnessed by the US administration any more. Now the US administration can suppress people by the help of its security forces, but it no doubt will be unable to root out this movement, and one day, the roots of this movement will grow so deep and so wide that it will topple the West's and the United States' capitalist system.

On the winter solstice, her worshipers sacrifice white female animals, and thread the meat onto sticks which they bend into rings and tie with bright ribbons. They also cover their doorposts with butter so Beiwe can eat it and begin her journey once again

Fars News Agency plans to hold an international cartoon festival on the Occupy Wall Street movement in a bid to help people in the United States take their message out to the world.
Gee. What can go wrong? Here's the first paragraph:
Despite the attempts made by the US media and statesmen to portray it as an unimportant development, the Anti-Capitalism Occupy Wall Street Movement has gradually grown so wide that it cannot be harnessed by the US administration any more. Now the US administration can suppress people by the help of its security forces, but it no doubt will be unable to root out this movement, and one day, the roots of this movement will grow so deep and so wide that it will topple the West's and the United States' capitalist system.
Sounds like something straight out of Pravda during the height of the cold war. Toppling the West's capitalist system? Seriously?

Simple answer to that: Set up a large screen in Zugatti Park and show videos of Iranian police and militia brutalizing protesters. Once the show ends, there'll be a simple motion in OWS's General Assembly to not attend the "Fars Farce", and it will pass without opposition. No need for pepper-spray or anything. Just show them what Iran really thinks of protesters.

Huffpo: Bradley Manning, Hero, or Traitor?
Short answer: Hero
Besides helping to end the Iraq war, the leaked cables helped spark the Arab Spring. When people in Tunisia read cables revealing corruption by the ruling family there, they took to the streets.
If Manning did what he is accused of doing, he should not be tried as a criminal. He should be hailed as a national hero, much like Daniel Ellsberg, whose release of the Pentagon Papers helped to expose the government's lies and end the Vietnam War.

Yes, he did. It turned out that Julian Assange had given the footage the "Breitbart-Grayson Treatment", proving Wikileaks to be full of shit long before before the main document dump.
The deceptive editing of "Collateral Murder" is also a reason Bradley Manning cannot be considered as the same as Daniel Ellsburg: Ellsburg did not countenance lies in the release of the Pentagon Papers, whereas Manning continued to support Asange even after Assange's dishonest video hit piece went up. Bradley Manning can be more accurately compared to Andrew Breitbart's "little buddy" James O'Keefe.

-- Ron Paul
Well, that's revealing.
The reason the dumb confederates resent non-conformists and non-believers is because they feel they are in some kind of competition with us.
The neocons among them hate the Islamists because they are even better at ruthless, state-forced conformity than even they are.

And in Nigeria, 32 Catholics were murdered by Islamist bombs as they celebrated Mass:
An explosion ripped through a Catholic church during Christmas Mass near Nigeria's capital today killing at least 32 people.
A radical Muslim sect claimed responsibility five attacks which struck the nation's north-east today.
The Christmas Day attacks show the growing national ambition of the sect known as Boko Haram, which is responsible for at least 495 killings this year alone.
The sect, which aims to impose sharia law across the country, claimed responsibility for the three church bombs, the second Christmas in a row the group has caused mass carnage with deadly bombings of churches.
The first explosion on Sunday struck St. Theresa Catholic Church in Madalla, a town in Niger state close to the capital, Abuja.
The church was packed when the bomb exploded just outside.
‘We were in the church with my family when we heard the explosion. I just ran out,’ Timothy Onyekwere said.
‘Now I don't even know where my children or my wife are. I don't know how many were killed but there were many dead.’
Hours after the first bomb, blasts were reported at the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Church in the central, ethnically and religiously mixed town of Jos, and at a church in northern Yobe state at the town of Gadaka.
Residents said many were wounded in Gadaka, but there were no immediate further details.

‘Anonymous’ hacking network attacks US security think tank Stratfor, promises more targets
LONDON — The loose-knit hacking movement “Anonymous” claimed Sunday to have stolen thousands of credit card numbers and other personal information belonging to clients of U.S.-based security think tank Stratfor. One hacker said the goal was to pilfer funds from individuals’ accounts to give away as Christmas donations, and some victims confirmed unauthorized transactions linked to their credit cards.
Anonymous boasted of stealing Stratfor’s confidential client list, which includes entities ranging from Apple to the U.S. Air Force to the Miami Police Department, and mining it for more than 4,000 credit card numbers, passwords and home addresses.
“Not so private and secret anymore?” the group taunted in a message on Twitter, promising that the attack on Stratfor was just the beginning of a Christmas-inspired assault on a long list of targets.
Anonymous said the client list it posted was a small slice of the 200 gigabytes worth of plunder it stole from Stratfor and promised more leaks. It said it was able to get the credit details in part because Stratfor didn’t bother encrypting them — an easy-to-avoid blunder which, if true, would be a major embarrassment for any security-related company.
Continutes.
Enough of this shit already. And why the feck are a bunch of pimple faced emo hackers able to hack into this organization? Get with the program.

I'm sorry, I should have used "ethnic group" rather than "tribe". I was curious whether the religious split in Nigeria corresponded to the Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba in some way. And therefore the bombings might be part of the on-going sectarian strife there rather than primarily being done on religious grounds.

Is the bombing in Nigeria actual religious strife, or more tribal strife where the tribes tend to follow certain religions? Thus, a church bombing is less bombing Christians as much as it is bombing an opposing tribe?
It's almost impossible to tell. A lot of this stuff is regional/ethnic/tribal strife that, on the surface, appears religious. It doesn't help when some imam somewhere issues a fatwa saying this stuff is ok. In a sense there is a religious angle but it's not necessarily the source of the conflict.

Occupy's Next Target: The Iowa Caucus
On October 22, more than 100 Occupy Iowa activists gathered outside President Obama's campaign headquarters in Des Moines to protest his failure to stand up for the 99 percent. That same day, John Stauber, the founder of the corporate watchdog Center for Media and Democracy, suggested in a Truthout op-ed that the protest could be the start of something bigger. "In Iowa an Occupy Obama movement has real potential because it could choose to become a player in the Iowa caucuses in a way that is much more than symbolic," he wrote. "Occupy Obama activists could show up at the caucus meetings in January, for instance, and organize support for an Uncommitted slate of Occupy Obama convention activists." In other words, determined occupiers could inject some unexpected turbulence into Obama's glide path toward being named the Democratic nominee.
Continues.

More:
Both the Des Moines activists and Occupy Iowa Caucus organizers have stated that they will not protest at caucuses or otherwise interrupt the voting. Still, when a video attributed to the hacktivist group Anonymous called for protesters to "peacefully shut down" the caucuses, Gov. Terry Branstad, a Republican, said he would "work with Homeland Security and work with law enforcement" to prevent any disruptions. More recently, the Iowa GOP has said it fears computer hackers sympathetic to the Occupy movement may try to target its vote count.

There's a scene in The Three Musketeers, where one of the servants explains that his father was never too sure about religion, but when he found a Protestant alone on the road, always considered himself a Catholic, and when it was a Catholic traveller, a Protestant--and then robbed them.
He was eventually murdered by two fellow travellers, one Catholic and one Protestant, who had been robbed by him before. Luckily, since he had two sons, one of whom was baptized and Catholic, and the other a Protestant, they were able to each track down the man of the opposite faith and avenge their father.
I thought about this scene again when I read that people were walking around Iraq with two sets of papers--one with a Sunni name, and one with a Shiite name.

Leaked? You know, she is the first entry in the White Pages for Gloria Anne Borger in the DC area. As far as I can see, simply gathering and disseminating Borger's contact info isn't harassment in its own right, but it is definitely a dick move that opens the door to more unsavory characters trying something stupid (and possibly illegal). In my estimation, harassment begins when someone makes use of that info to attempt unwanted contact.

A Dispute Over Who Owns a Twitter Account Goes to Court
“This will establish precedent in the online world, as it relates to ownership of social media accounts,” said Henry J. Cittone, a lawyer in New York who litigates intellectual property disputes. “We’ve actually been waiting to see such a case as many of our clients are concerned about the ownership of social media accounts vis-á-vis their branding.”
Mr. Cittone added that a particularly important wrinkle is what value the court might set on the worth of one Twitter follower to a media company, saying the price set could affect future cases involving ownership of social media.

Wonder if my uncles had any awards withheld because white bigots couldn't compete.
At least someone, in this case, worked to right a grievous wrong and this sailor will finally be recognized for his bravery under fire.
But, it hurts to know that many more minority vets went to their graves, never getting their due, their families often never knowing that their loved ones were ordinary men who did extraordinary things under extraordinary circumstances.
And there are some people that would love to take this country back to the bad old days; racism and bigotry should and needs to be well and truly dead.

Two protestors started arguing with each other; one of them was pregnant. Harsh words led to hair pulling and punching, and both of them landed on the ground.
While other protestors tried to break up the situation, our videographer called 911 for help. Medics rushed to the scene and took the pregnant protestor to the hospital to be checked out.

Aren't family fights a holiday tradition?
Oh, always.
Here's a Christmas season reminiscence my brother wrote about our firmly and lovingly dysfunctional family. It was so on target, especially about my Dad, who didn't like change, and who was vehemently opposed to honky-tonks. It's lengthy, I know.
When we were very young kids we decorated our tree with multi-colored C-7 lights since as long as I can remember. Then one chilly evening - you and Mom, radical feminists that you were, came home with a few boxes of twinkling C-7s after a Christmas shopping trip (no boys allowed). Dad complained that twinkling lights would look like a honky-tonk. Mom slipped a few in and told Dad let's just see what it looks like. It was a hit. We never went with all twinkling lights, but we never went back to all solid lights. Our display tradition wound up with about every 3rd or 4th light as a twinkling light and it became part of our family Christmas tree tradition.
I remember being mesmerized at how the shifting shadows on the ceiling kept perfect sync with whatever music was playing on our ancient stereo. The sync was maintained whether it was a record that you or brother were playing (Dad hated all things rock N roll) or one of those Goodyear Christmas albums (that included a mix of great classic Christmas tunes and updated Christmas tunes).
You and Mom also came home one year with a set of mini-lights. Feminist Rebels! Dad protested as usual, but Mom managed to slip them in despite Dad's protestations.
From then on our tree was a unique mix of C-7 solid/twinkling lights and a few sets of mini-lights. The result was a beautiful and completely unique Christmas tree light display. NO ONE ELSE had a tree with the drama, beauty, complexity, and tranquility of this perfect storm of Christmas spirit, technology, and honky-tonk commercialism. It's the lighting scheme I have kept on my trees all these years (including this year).
But the clock is ticking. In a few years you won't be able to purchase C-7 incandescent lights whether solid or twinkling. The LED barbarians are knocking at the gate! You also won't be able to purchase incandescent mini-lights. You will have supposedly equivalent choices for LED lights. And LEDs are safer because they don't get hot. Less energy consumption, fewer fatal fires, etc. But it won't be the same. LED’s provide neither the warm ambient glow of incandescent lighting nor the cheap honky-tonk thrill of twinkling lights. Tick-tock, tick-tock. Even now you can hardly find C-7 twinkling lights.
I figure I can hold out for another seven to ten years - and then this arrangement of lighting - the most perfect arrangement achieved by mankind, and by my Mom and sister, and an annoyed skeptic Dad, will be lost forever!

The Stop Online Piracy Act aims to do a good thing – combat copyright infringement. Unfortunately, the bill is based on a fundamental misunderstanding of how the Domain Name System and DNS filtering technology work. This proposed law would dramatically weaken Internet security, making Americans more vulnerable to crime, fraud, viruses, and malicious hacking. Importantly, the government's own Internet security experts share this view: in the letter below, Sandia National Labs reports that SOPA would (a) be ineffective and (b) harm U.S. cybersecurity.

Don't forget that the whole point of a story like The Boy Who Cried Wolf* is that at the end, despite the boy's prior lies, there really was a wolf. So it probably is with SOPA - "internment camp" talk is hyperbole to be sure, but the other complaints - e.g. that it could result in a "great firewall of China" Internet situation here - are entirely legitimate. I certainly don't want the groups you listed - or any others - to have the power to shut down websites on a pique-filled personal whim.

He turned to the third mom, Joyce: "Your obsession is alcohol. This too shows itself in your child's name, Brandy."
At this point, the fourth mother, Kathy, quietly got up, took her little boy by the hand, and whispered, "Come on, Dick, this guy has no idea what he's talking about. Let's pick up Peter and Willy from school and go get dinner.”

It's not cool to Pope on people...unless you're into those kinds of bedroom games. ///

re: #139 Shiplord Kirel
We interrupt our program for an important message:
Hi everyone. This is Shiplord Kirel's grandson Isaac. He wanted me to say hello to all of his friends at LGF. I am 10 years old so I can't come here as a regular. Grandpa says it is not dirty but it is an adult place and the language can get bad at times. He says he has been posting here since about the time I was born and it is his favorite website.
My mom and dad and sister and I are visiting from Massachusetts. Grandpa's house is cool. He has model planes and all kinds of tools and great pictures of himself and his friends when they were young. Some are more recent too. He has some pics of my mom when she was a baby that I hadn't seen before.
My great grandmother and my aunt are here too. My aunt is the one who is a professor. My mom is not a professor but she is an architect and my dad is a Baptist minister.
Have a merry Christmas everyone! I'll give you back to grandpa now.
Tell Gramps, we're glad he got help, the night he cut his leg. He scared us.

I think you're confusing SOPA with the discussion of detainment of US citizens in the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012.
Not really. To the more deranged "firebaggers" both bills are part of the same plot to throw all "dissenters" into FEMA camps.

I say, let the fools drown if they're too stupid to do anything about it:
Climate-change skeptics in Va. oppose preparations for sea-level rise
Over his long career as a public planner, Lewis Lawrence grew accustomed to the bland formalities of planning commission meetings in Virginia's Middle Peninsula, [...]
But lately, the meetings have gotten far more exciting - in a bad way, said Lawrence, acting executive director of the Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission. A well-organized and vocal group of residents has taken a keen interest in municipal preparations for sea-level rise caused by climate change, often shouting their opposition, sometimes while planners and politicians are talking.
The residents' opposition has focused on a central point: They don't think climate change is accelerated by human activity, as most climate scientists conclude. When planners proposed to rezone land for use as a dike against rising water, these residents, or "new activists" as Lawrence calls them, saw a trick to take their property.
"Environmentalists have always had an agenda to put nature above man," said Donna Holt, leader of the Virginia Campaign for Liberty, a tea-party affiliate with 7,000 members. "If they can find an end to their means, they don't care how it happens. If they can do it under the guise of global warming and climate change, they will do it."
Outside of greater New Orleans, Hampton Roads is at the biggest risk from sea-level rise of any area its size in the United States, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The water has risen so much that Norfolk Naval Station is replacing 14 piers at $60 million each to keep ship-repair facilities high and dry.
[...]
When planners redesignated property as a future flood zone, activists said officials were acting on a hoax. They argued in meetings and online that local planners are unwitting agents of Agenda 21, a U.N. environmental action plan adopted in 1992 that the activists see as a global conspiracy to grab land and redistribute wealth in the United States.[...]
The Alex-Jones-esque conspiracy mindset is suicidal idiocy by those with weak and lazy minds.

WHAT IS SUSTAINBLE DEVELOPMENT?
Sustainable Development is the 1992 action plan set forth by the United Nations in 40 chapters of a socialist political agenda called Agenda 21 to control every aspect of life. Some of the more important goals are: Change Consumption Patterns; Promote Sustainable Human Settlements; Plan & Manage All Land Resources, Ecosystems, Deserts, Forests, Mountains, Oceans, Fresh Water; Agriculture; Rural Development; Biotechnology; Ensuring Equity; an increased role for Non-Government Organizations (NGOs); and define the role of Business and Financial Resources. All this was to be accomplished on a global, national, and local scale.

At least someone, in this case, worked to right a grievous wrong and this sailor will finally be recognized for his bravery under fire.
Not good enough. Of course some unnamed "someone" did - this is what we have been doing in this place for 400 years.
Only difference is, this time it actually made the news.
It more than just hurts. That is the sort of thing that determined the futures and limits of entire generations of people, before and after WW2.
