Uh, universal health care is needed immediately. I understand that because America is pretty uniquely fucked up you’re not going to get it, but that doesn’t mean you don’t need it.

Of course universal health care won’t stop people dying, although I’d contend it would help, but even if it doesn’t what it would do is make sure that people aren’t financially ruined by getting ill.

Universal health care is needed. But it wouldn’t have prevented Trump and Boris Johnson from ignoring the issue until it was too late, many deaths occurring, and hospitals being overwhelmed, because a crisis like this requires a country level response.
