I’ll restate it. The majority of the left did not want the US to “lose” in Iraq. That’s just hogwash. They wanted to minimize troop losses by ending what they saw as an unjust war as soon as possible.

IIRC, I started reading DailyKos sometime in 2006. I remember people posting diaries where they would have some animated gif of a flickering candle for each soldier that died that day. People would post about crying over the war, just a lot of grief stricken people.

Where are those posts and people now? For some reason the change in attitude bothers me, because I think they were exploiting death for political gains. I won’t judge it as patriotic or not, but you have to question the motives of the anti-war movement when the entire movement seems to have fallen off the face of the planet when Obama was sworn in.
